Different types of laptop stand |
Fundamentally, as we see it, there are only two main types of laptop stand.
The majority of laptop stands are of the "tilt it up a bit" variety. Sadly this doesn't achieve much. It doesn't put the keyboard in an ideal position, it doesn't provide the very best pointing device and most importantly, it leaves the screen in a position where the user still takes up a bad posture to look at it.
The remainder of laptop stands are of the "bring the laptop screen to where it should be" variety. Although this type require a mouse and keyboard, if someone genuinely wants to create an ideal working position, they will spend the few £/€/$ on a keyboard and mouse to go with the stand. After all, what price do we all put on our health and comfort?
Naturally, Prop-Forward is of the latter type and puts your screen where it should be.
There are other stands of this type out there:
A major laptop manufacturer makes one, but it's really big (and really nice) and really expensive (you could buy 5 or 6 Prop-Forwards for the same money).
There are one or two that cost even less than Prop-Forward, but they are a bit flimsy. Someone said that flimsy was good for portability, but then we couldn't see how carrying it around would help, because you would need to carry a keyboard as well!
